New local non-profit organization to cater to children
Airdrie, Alta., January 16, 2018–Airdrie Children’s Festival Society (ACFS), a new local organization, is planning an event to enrich the lives of children and celebrate cultural differences. The Society, which is made up of a group of local residents, will host its inaugural event on May 26 at Nose Creek Park.
“We want to create a destination event that welcomes attendees from Airdrie and the surrounding area,” said Pete Lewis, chair of the ACFS. “Our goal is to include everyone at this event, and we are thrilled to announce that, thanks to the generous support of local businesses, the entire event will be free to all families.”
The event, which will run from 10am to 5pm will feature a Children’s Village play area, children’s entertainment, and inspiration stations, created to inspire kids in learning activities with the goal of exposing them to future career opportunities.
In addition, youth can participate in free workshops, such as cooking, pottery, drawing and painting, story writing and computer coding, located around the city.
“We want kids attending this event to have fun, be captivated and curious,” said Lewis, whose own two children, ages four and six, were part of the inspiration behind the event. “We want young people to not only have fun, but also to see opportunities for their futures. We want them to know they can aspire to be biologists, aircraft technicians, farmers, or any other career they choose.”
The inaugural event will culminate in a free outdoor family movie, presented by Shilo Storey – The Real Estate Storey at RE/MAX First
